Coventry Village celebrates the holidays with free, "Big Fun" December 10

The holiday season just doesn't feel the same without some "Big Fun" on Coventry. That's why for the 8th Annual Jingle Bell Holiday Shop, taking place December 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grog Shop and BSide Lounge (2785 Euclid Heights Blvd), Steve Presser, the impresario behind the beloved Cleveland toy shop will be back with retro gifts, knick-knacks, collectibles, vintage neon letters and more for sale.

Joining him will be over 50 artisans and vendors including his wife Debbie Apple-Presser, representing Planet Joy, the artist and philanthropists’ latest project: a collaborative art studio for those with developmental disabilities. She will have tea towels, umbrellas and more from these talented individuals to purchase. Mac's Backs-Books on Coventry will also join them at the sip n’ shop for this one-day, fun-day reunion.

In attendance will be a curated assortment of vendors spanning two floors with homewares, clothing, jewelry, children’s clothing and toys, holiday foods and pastry, glassware, fine art, ceramics, bath and skincare items for men and women. Vendors include Breadheads Breadery, My Turquoise Kitten, Little Babet, Elle Sky Ceramics, Space Cadet, Puff N Stuff, Dark Lantern Studios, Li’l Boîte Pâtisserie, Everarbor, Brooke’s Bath Shop, CCSatchelKnits, and more.

The holiday shop is just one of the many events planned among businesses in the district. Made Cleveland (1807 Coventry Rd), which acts as an in-person and online hub for over 100 local makers, will be open with cookie decorating and make-your-own stockings. The Cleveland Heights - University Heights Public Library (1925 Coventry Rd) will celebrate another kind of creative that afternoon at 2 p.m., author Tricia Springstubb, presenting her new book, Looking For True, a story about two unlikely friends that bond over their shared compassion for a dog.

The ambiance on the street will be aglow with decorative lights and festive, Christmas characters walking about including the Grinch and Olaf for families to take photos with. Santa will also be on the move, jamming out to live music hosted at various venues along the street.

A Lantern Festival and parade will be taking place at the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. Park campus. This event is meant for people of all ages- children and those young at heart! Lantern making will begin at 3 p.m. with afternoon workshops and then an early-evening lantern procession through the park and down Coventry Road, concluding with a holiday sing-along and free hot cocoa.

That evening, Lea Marra & The Dream Catchers will perform a special concert dedicated to their holiday EP release at Grog Shop (2785 Euclid Heights Blvd), also featuring local musicians Sugar Mules and Morning Bird. Doors are at 7 p.m. with live music beginning at 8 p.m. Concerts at Grog Shop are all ages.
