Youth-Led Pop-Up Shop at Grog Shop with EYEJ

The Youth Council of Empowering Youth, Exploring Justice (EYEJ) has planned a unique fundraiser in support of its members and their work.

On Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28, the band of young-adult changemakers will hold a “Pop-Up Shop” featuring new, brand-name items of interest to patrons of all ages.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to Youth Council members and enable them to continue their work fostering systemic change in their communities.

“We are trying to be the change we want to see, but we can’t do that without the support of the community,” said Youth Council lead Diamond Bottoson. “We can’t empower others or create real change if we aren't stable and empowered ourselves.”

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at The Grog Shop, 2875 Euclid Heights Blvd. in Cleveland Heights. In addition to shopping, guests also will be able to learn more about EYEJ and the Youth Council and sign up to get involved.

A donation event will precede the Pop-Up Shop. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 26, also at The Grog Shop, supporters can contribute items to be sold. Bottoson said the group will accept any item that’s new, unopened, and of general interest.

In lieu of physical objects, supporters also may make cash donations, 100-percent of which will go to Youth Council members.

ABOUT THE EYEJ YOUTH COUNCIL

First convened in 2017, the EYEJ Youth Council is an active, ambitious, and diverse group of students ages 15 to 25. Composed primarily of high school and college students from Cleveland and East Cleveland, it works to create a more equitable and inclusive world, beginning with Northeast Ohio. It empowers young people to seek solutions to the injustices, challenges, and other obstructions they and their peers encounter every day.
